Can someone explain how to print from an iPad?

Skip AirPrint and use your router’s USB print feature.

  1. Plug the printer into your WiFi router’s USB port.
  2. On the router settings page, enable USB printing or print server.
  3. On your iPad, install a generic print app that supports IP printing, like “Direct Print & Scan for AirPrint.”
  4. In the app, add a printer by IP, use the router’s IP address.
  5. Open your document, use Share, then open in that app and print.

This uses the router as the bridge, which often fixes flaky WiFi printer discovery.
