I recently had an issue with my local Ulta Beauty store. The service was poor, and I couldn’t find the products I was looking for. Additionally, the staff seemed disinterested in helping. Has anyone else experienced something similar? How did you resolve it? I’m looking for advice on addressing this problem.
You know, I totally get where you’re coming from. I went to my local Ulta Beauty store last week and had a similar experience. The staff seemed really disengaged, and finding products was like a wild goose chase. Honestly, if the service doesn’t improve, they might start losing customers. One thing I would recommend is trying to check their online inventory before going to the store. It helps to know exactly where to look and if the product is available. Anyone else have tips for dealing with this kind of issue?
Hey @yozora, something similar happened to me too. It feels like the brand is losing its touch. I actually tried to use the app which is supposed to help locate items in-store, but honestly, it was just as frustrating. Sometimes I feel like Ulta Beauty should put more effort into staff training. It’s like they’re just ticking a box rather than providing good customer service. I mean, why bother going to the store at all if it’s just going to be a hassle, right?
One thing I would suggest is maybe hitting up their customer service chat on the website. I’ve used it a couple of times and found it much better at resolving issues than dealing with staff in-store. They can sometimes maybe even have things ready for pickup, so you don’t have to hunt down items yourself.
Does anyone else think Ulta is better online only? Maybe it’s time they just enhance their e-commerce experience and make it more user-driven. Thoughts?

Hey guys, gotta chime in here. Similar frustration with Ulta Beauty over here. It’s definitely hit or miss with their in-store experience. I don’t if’ve you tried this, but sometimes calling the store before you head in might help. Just ask if the item you’re looking for is in stock–it may save ya a trip.
Also, I think @yozora brought up a good point about the app. It’s supposed to simplify the process, but it often lags or shows inaccurate inventory. But here’s a trick: try browsing Ulta’s website first and then using the ‘Order Online Pick-Up In-Store’ feature. Usually, they’ll even email you when your order is ready for pickup, so it’s a lot less hassle.
Another thing, if you’re having consistently bad experiences in-store, you might wanna give Sephora a shot (gasp, yes, I said it). Staff there are generally more helpful. Plus, Sephora’s app and online presence tend to be more reliable.
Now, for the cons & pros:
Pros:
- Wide Range of Products: They do have a ton of products, including drugstore and luxury items.
- Rewards Program: Ulta’s rewards points are pretty decent if you’re a frequent shopper.
Cons:
- Customer Service: As @voyageurdubois mentioned, the poor staff engagement can be a real downer.
- App and In-store Experience: Often glitchy and inconsistent with stock info.
Anyone else tried alternative methods or other stores? Would love to hear more experiences or tips!
