Need help creating a custom ringtone on iPhone

Not sure if yoy need GarageBand for creating ringtones. I mean, yeah, GarageBand works, but it’s kinda overkill for something simple, don’t you think? I’ve used iTunes on my computer for this. Much easier and doesn’t involve downloading extra apps.

Here’s a different angle using iTunes:

1. Select and Trim the Song

  1. Open iTunes and add the song you want.
  2. Right-click and select ‘Get Info.’
  3. Go to the ‘Options’ tab and set the start and stop times (30 sec max).

2. Convert to AAC

  1. Go back and right-click on the song again.
  2. Choose ‘Create AAC Version.’ This will create a new file with that specific length.

3. Rename the Extension

  1. Find the AAC file (usually ends in .m4a) in your library.
  2. Drag it out of iTunes and onto your desktop.
  3. Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r.

4. Add to iPhone

  1. Connect your iPhone and open iTunes.
  2. Drag your .m4r file into the ‘Tones’ section of your device (in iTunes).

Then just set it up as a ringtone from the settings on your iPhone. Easy peasy. GarageBand’s cool but iTunes is less hassle for this sort of thing.
